Audiobooks reach a wider segment of people who enjoy reading but don't have the time or ability to read. My husband has a form of dyslexia which makes it difficult for him to read a print book. Because of audiobooks, he has been able to enjoy hundreds of titles over the years. His blind cousin assisted in pioneering much of the accessible technology we now enjoy. She, too, benefited greatly from audiobooks.
With this in mind, Shelly Pulse published her debut ebook novels on Google Play Books to take advantage of a new feature which converts them into audiobooks. Google uses the latest natural-sounding artificial intelligence voices to narrate the books. No, the quality is no where near a professionally recorded narration of the work, but, for now, it will give access to that segment of the population that read books using the audio format.
